Vision

The Harijan Sevak Sangh, headquartered in Delhi, envisions a society free from untouchability, where all individuals, regardless of caste, enjoy equal rights and opportunities. Their vision includes the social, economic, and cultural upliftment of marginalized communities like Dalits, Adivasis, and other weaker sections, promoting human development and fostering values of love, fraternity, and service. 

Key aspects of the Harijan Sevak Sangh’s vision:

  • Eradication of Untouchability:

The core objective is to eliminate the practice of untouchability and its associated evils through non-violent means. 

  • Equal Rights and Opportunities:

The Sangh strives to ensure that all individuals have access to public places, education, healthcare, and other basic human rights, regardless of their caste or social background. 

  • Social and Economic Empowerment:

They work towards empowering marginalized communities by providing access to education, vocational training, and economic opportunities, enabling them to live with dignity. 

  • Community Development:

The Sangh focuses on holistic development, including health, sanitation, and community-based programs, promoting self-reliance and sustainable development. 

  • Promoting Gandhian Values:

They aim to propagate the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, including non-violence, peace, national integration, and communal harmony. 

In essence, the Harijan Sevak Sangh envisions a society where every individual is treated with respect and dignity, and where social justice prevails, allowing all to thrive and contribute to a better nation. 

Dr.Nisha Bala Tyagi

Dr.Nisha Bala Tyagi has done her doctorate in Gandhian Philosophy and post doctorate research in Gandhi and Tolstoy from Delhi University.Nisha is a retired professor from Miranda House ,Delhi University.She has been Deputy Dean Academic ,Gandhi Bhawan, and Deputy Proctor ,Delhi University.Nisha has been to Gandhi Foundation(U.K),Berlin and Erlangen University (Germany ),U.S.A and Sweden to lecture and paper presentations on Gandhi. In Berlin,she had also signed a manifesto against conspiration and the military system.She has also published a book on ‘Goodness:The Gandhian Way of life’from Gandhi Peace Foundation.She has published a number of research papers and book reviews.Nisha has also been associated with post graduate teaching in the Department of Philosophy ,Delhi University.She is also an academic member of the the Athens Institute,’a world association of Academics and Research’.
