Shri Laxmi Dass, born on 10^th September 1947, M. A. (Himachal University) started his life journey from his native village in Himachal.  Gradually he was connected with Sarvodaya work and became the President of Tahashil and District Sarvoday Mandal. Later he joined in Vinoba Ji’s Sarvodaya Movement at a young age and he has dedicated his entire life to social endeavors. He has good affinity as a writer.

Sri Laxmi Dass was appointed Secretary of Harijan Sevak Sangh from August 1983 to December1988 again from August 2008 to May 2016 later became Vice President from May 2016 to till date of the organization.

Sri Dass maintains a strong interest in rural development and industries, currently serving as the Chairman of Akhil Bhartiya Gramodyog Mahasangh, a national confederation of Khadi and Village Industris. His career as a social worker and professional has included key roles such as Member Secretary of Himachal Pradesh Bhoodan Yagna Board from1975 to 1988 and General Secretary of All India Khet Mazdoor Kisan Parishad.

Sri Dass became the Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Govt. of India during Shri Rajiv Gandhi’s Prime Ministership. During his tenure as Chairman of KVIC he evolved new ideas and programmes, which gave employment to large number of artisans and rural youths. Additionally, he currently holds the positions of Chairman of The Kangra Co-operative Bank Ltd since 2010. He has special recognition in Co-Operative Sector.
